On April 26, 2017, President Trump signed an executive order attempting to eliminate or shrink monuments that have been protected by our presidents in recent decades, including Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument in New Mexico. The executive order puts the fate of these monuments in the hands of Secretary of the Interior, Ryan Zinke. The Department of the Interior is now taking public comments about this order.
